Global payments infrastructure provider Nium has expanded its real-time payment network to include Australia.

This enables businesses to process instant cross-border payments to Australian bank accounts and PayIDs.

The move integrates with Australia’s New Payments Platform (NPP), which supports real-time transactions by providing the underlying infrastructure for immediate payment processing between participating banks.

This expansion is part of Nium’s broader effort to build a comprehensive global network for fast and efficient international payments.

Nium highlighted that businesses using its platform can now deliver funds to Australia within seconds, enhancing transaction speed while reducing costs.

The company also reported a tripling of its monthly payment volume in the Oceania region over the past year, driven by increased adoption from financial institutions and spend management platforms, including AI-powered RedOwl, Weel, and Budgetly.

In addition to its Australian expansion, Nium recently entered New Zealand as a registered Financial Service Provider, offering virtual accounts, global payouts, and card solutions.

“This expansion of our network marks another milestone in our commitment to transforming global money movement.

Real-time payments are becoming the global standard, and with our access to NPP, businesses can now make instant payouts into Australia from anywhere in the world to Australian accounts and Payment IDs (PayIDs).”

said Alexandra Johnson, Chief Payments Officer at Nium.
