Space technology isn’t just about exploring the cosmos — it’s increasingly shaping industries right here on Earth. Leading this transformation is NEO Space Group (NSG), a portfolio company of Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), dedicated to harnessing space capabilities for real-world applications.

At LEAP 2025 in Riyadh — hailed as the world’s most attended tech event — The Fintech Times sat down with Amru Alamoudi, vice president of strategy and business development at NSG. Blending technical satellite engineering expertise with a strategic vision for Saudi Arabia’s space sector, Alamoudi shared insights on how NSG is revolutionising space technology to drive industry-wide impact.

    Developing strategy and partnerships

“My role at NSG is to support corporate strategy development and build business partnerships,” Alamoudi explained. “I oversee strategy and corporate business development across NSG’s various business units, including our geospatial intelligence and satellite communications divisions.”

His work focuses on aligning satellite capabilities with the strategic needs of key industries, ensuring that space-based solutions directly support business objectives.

    Supporting key industries

A major area of focus for NSG is offshore operations, where satellite connectivity and geospatial data are critical — particularly for Saudi Arabia’s energy sector.

“We work with national and global companies like Aramco, which rely heavily on offshore operations,” Alamoudi noted. “They need remote connectivity, as well as real-time geospatial data to detect the change for environmental monitoring, logistic, disaster prevention, and asset protection.”

Beyond energy, satellite application plays a crucial role in large-scale construction and logistics. Satellite applications support infrastructure planning, risk assessment, maintenance, and operational efficiency, ensuring major projects remain on track.

“These are some of the areas where we are providing support,” Alamoudi added.

    Building a full-service space offering

As space technology becomes more commercially integrated, the focus has shifted beyond simply launching satellites to delivering end-to-end solutions that create tangible value on earth for humanity and prosperity.

NSG’s business development team plays a critical role in bridging the gap between satellite service providers and end users in Saudi Arabia and beyond. Instead of just supplying satellite bandwidth, NSG structures entire service models — assessing demand, building business cases, and ensuring commercial viability.

One example is NSG’s work in in-flight connectivity, where satellite communications enhance airborne internet services. Rather than just providing infrastructure, NSG tailors connectivity solutions to industry needs, ensuring seamless integration into operational workflows.

    Prioritising high-demand sectors

While NSG’s satellite services can support a broad range of industries, Alamoudi highlighted three priority sectors where demand is strongest:

    • Energy – Leveraging satellite connectivity for offshore operations, environmental monitoring and asset management.
    • Logistics – Utilising geospatial intelligence for supply chain optimization, tracking and operational efficiency.
    • Large-scale real estate and construction – Enhancing infrastructure planning, risk assessment, and project execution through satellite data

“If I had to choose three key verticals, they would align with Saudi Arabia’s strengths — energy leadership and the push for economic diversification through major infrastructure projects,” Alamoudi said.

    Collaborating at LEAP 2025

At LEAP 2025, NSG showcased its latest satellite solutions, engaging with industry leaders, partners, and innovators to explore the transformative impact of space technology. The NSG leadership team also participated in panels and fireside chats, discussing topics like:

    • Next-generation space infrastructure
    • The future of satellite communications
    • The growing role of space tech in diverse industries
    • Empowering women in the space sector

Reflecting on the event, Alamoudi emphasised its role in connecting technology providers with industries that can benefit from satellite-driven solutions.

“LEAP is the world’s largest tech event, providing a platform for networking and collaboration,” he said. “It allows NEO Space Group to raise awareness and investment in how space and satellite applications can drive innovation across industries — and benefit humanity as a whole.”
