Careem Pay Launches Remittance Service to Jordan with Lower Fees and Faster Transfers

Careem Pay has launched a new service enabling UAE users to send money directly to bank accounts in Jordan, aiming to offer a faster and more cost-effective option in one of the region’s busiest remittance corridors.

The service already supports transfers to a number of countries with large remittance flows from the UAE, including India, Pakistan, the UK, Europe, the Philippines and Lebanon. This expansion also follows the launch of transfers to Egypt in March.

Jordan is among the top destinations for remittances from the UAE, with annual flows exceeding $1billion in recent years. The expansion comes ahead of Arafah Day and Eid Al Adha, when remittance activity typically increases.

Mohammad El Saadi, VP of Careem Pay, said the new service aims to offer a more accessible and efficient way for users to support family or manage expenses back home.

“Sending money home is one of the most meaningful things our customers do with Careem Pay. For many Jordanian expats, it’s about supporting loved ones, covering school fees, or helping parents with everyday expenses. We wanted to make that process simpler, faster, and more affordable.”

Transfers to Jordan are processed within 24 hours on average and are sent in Jordanian Dinars to any valid IBAN. For a limited time, new users can also make two fee-free transfers. Regular users are charged a fixed fee of AED 10, while Careem Plus members receive additional benefits, including waived fees on transfers above AED 1,500.

The remittance feature is available in the Careem app under the ‘Send Money’ option.
