Vietnam has launched NDAChain, a national blockchain platform designed to enhance the country’s digital infrastructure and data verification systems.

It will serve as a core component of the National Data Center and is set to expand to local governments and universities by 2026.

Developed by the National Data Association and operated by the Data Innovation and Exploitation Center under the National Data Center and Ministry of Public Security, NDAChain is intended to strengthen the reliability and security of government and private sector systems.

It aims to address vulnerabilities in centralised data models, including exposure to cyberattacks, scalability limitations, and restricted global integration.

NDAChain operates as a Layer 1 permissioned blockchain, supported by 49 validator nodes managed by a mix of state agencies and major private enterprises such as SunGroup, Zalo, Masan, MISA, Sovico, and VNVC.

The nodes maintain a distributed ledger, support smart contract automation, and integrate with national identity systems including VNeID.

The platform runs on a Proof-of-Authority consensus protocol enhanced with Zero-Knowledge Proof for added security.

It is capable of processing up to 3,600 transactions per second with low latency and high scalability.

NDAChain is already powering applications like NDA DID, a decentralised identity service that allows citizens to verify counterparties during transactions or digital contract signing.

Through the NDAKey app, users can verify identities within seconds.

The platform also supports NDATrace, a national product traceability system that assigns unique identifiers to products, compliant with GS1 standards and compatible with the European Blockchain Services Infrastructure (EBSI).

Authorities plan to further develop NDAChain through workforce training, international collaboration, and the creation of Layer 2 applications tailored to various sectors.

The platform’s open architecture allows startups and private firms to build digital services such as identity wallets, anti-counterfeit tools, traceability solutions, and digital notarisation.

Vietnam joins over 50 countries that have introduced national blockchain platforms.

Its approach combines public-private collaboration, international standards compliance, and integration with national data systems, alongside initiatives like China’s BSN, the EU’s EBSI, and South Korea’s Klaytn.
