Bud Financial Launches Model Context Protocol to Ground AI in Bank-Grade Data

Bud Financial, the AI platform that transforms banking data into actionable insights, has launched a new Model Context Protocol (MCP) server to accelerate the development of AI agents grounded in real financial intelligence.

This strategic launch makes it dramatically easier for financial institutions (FIs), credit unions, and fintechs to deploy advanced AI-powered tools for both customers and employees. By exposing Bud’s proprietary models in a standardised way, the MCP server provides AI applications with instant access to enriched financial data and money management tools while maintaining strict data consent and security boundaries.

Bud is fundamentally aiming to bring AI to the core of banking, giving every employee and customer access to AI-assisted intelligence. Its models, trained specifically to understand bank data, work seamlessly on top of existing banking systems. This capability allows banking teams to perform tasks that previously required weeks of data analysis in just seconds, freeing them up to focus on unlocking new revenue streams and delivering highly personalised customer experiences.

    Faster Development, Better Answers

The MCP server addresses a critical need in the industry: bridging the gap between general-purpose AI models and the complex, specific context required for financial services.

    Edward Maslaveckas, CEO, Bud

Edward Maslaveckas, CEO and co-founder of Bud, explained that AI deployment in finance requires specialised tools. “As banking institutions seek operational acceleration through AI, they quickly find that they need verticalised models which can make their core data useable,” Maslaveckas said.

He added that Bud’s models solve this by giving customer intelligence for any financial use case. “The new MCP server exposes these capabilities in a standardised way, opening a path to rapid development and better outcomes.”

The Bud MCP server delivers three key benefits for developers and FIs:
    • Faster AI Development: The standardised MCP integration drastically reduces development and integration time, allowing teams to prototype and ship sophisticated AI use cases in record time.
    • Richer Context for Better Answers: AI agents gain access to Bud’s market-leading transaction enrichment and proprietary models, ensuring the insights they deliver on spending patterns, affordability, product suitability, and individual transactions are accurate and reliable.
    • Built for Banks and Builders: The same server can power a wide range of scenarios, from internal bank tools (such as customer service agent applications) to consumer apps (like personal finance agents), all with appropriately scoped and consent-based data access.
    Accelerating Financial Intelligence

The applications for this new protocol are broad and immediately practical. For internal teams, the system can surface enriched data instantly to resolve disputes by identifying the specific transaction, category, merchant, and location in real-time. For customers, the technology enables sophisticated personal finance agents to plan major events, such as a vacation, based on real-time analysis of savings progress and available balances.

Bud, which has been utilising AI since 2015, has processed tens of billions of transactions. Its market-leading transactional enrichment, categorisation, and analysis helps FIs become intelligent enterprises, fully harnessing their customer data to find new, data-driven opportunities to grow.

Developers can connect to the Bud MCP server immediately via the MCP specification, allowing banks, credit unions, and partners to start building with Bud’s tools right away.
