Coda, a Singapore-based company specialising in digital content monetisation, has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Recharge, a prepaid payments platform based in Amsterdam.
The acquisition brings together two profitable regional operators with established businesses and complementary strengths, aiming to expand their combined reach in the global digital content sector.
The deal is expected to support Coda’s growth beyond gaming by broadening its consumer and category base and strengthening its footprint in Europe.
It will also enhance its direct-to-consumer offerings.
For Recharge, the acquisition brings access to Coda’s business-to-business capabilities, deeper publisher partnerships, and experience in scaling operations in high-growth regions such as Asia.
Coda is known for its work with mobile gaming and digital content publishers, including Electronic Arts, Activision, Riot Games, HoYoverse, and Moonton.
It distributes over 500 titles through partnerships with more than 300 publishers and supports webstores for major franchises such as Call of Duty Mobile and EA SPORTS FC Mobile.
With a network of over 400 local payment channels, Coda offers a range of options for consumers and facilitates global operations for publishers by managing compliance, risk, and customer support.
Recharge operates consumer-facing digital storefronts such as Recharge.com and Startselect.com.
It offers over 16,000 products across gaming, mobile services, gift cards, and lifestyle categories.
The platform has more than 8 million users and works with over 1,000 brands including Apple, Google, Vodafone, and PlayStation.
Shane Happach, Chief Executive Officer of Coda, said:

“Recharge adds a powerful direct-to-consumer engine, deep prepaid expertise, and strong brand equity across Europe. Most importantly, we are bringing together two teams that share the same values: ambition, collaboration, and commercial sharpness. That gives us a strong foundation to lead the next chapter in global digital content distribution and monetisation.”
Günther Vogelpoel, Chief Executive Officer of Recharge, commented:

“Joining forces with Coda gives us the opportunity to take everything we have built, from our platform to our partnerships, and extend it globally to truly become the global leader we set out to be. With complementary strengths and a shared DNA, this unique combination sets us up to create even more value for the brands, publishers, and customers we serve.”
The transaction combines both firms’ expertise in payments, digital partnerships, and consumer access.
The companies expect to expand their catalogue and geographic coverage, enabling cross-selling and improved market reach.
The combined business will aim to deliver secure, locally relevant distribution and monetisation solutions for digital content across both B2B and B2C sectors.
The deal is supported by existing investors, including Apis Partners, Insight Partners, and Smash Capital.
