A White Home spokesperson mentioned Trump has plans to talk with Chinese language President Xi Jinping later this week.

When requested a couple of Wall Street Journal’s editorial that referred to as Trump’s tariff techniques “the dumbest commerce battle in historical past,” Trump told reporters gathered in the Oval Office, “Not solely is it not dumb, you are going to see, you are going to see each single a kind of nations is dying to make a deal.”

Leon J. Topalian, CEO of Nucor Corp., the biggest metal producer within the U.S., celebrated Trump tariffs in a statement: “Nucor applauds the primary steps taken by President Trump in his America First Commerce Agenda,” he wrote. “We sit up for working with President Trump to implement our commerce legal guidelines and strengthen American manufacturing.”
