Georgian fintech Keepz has collaborated with the Georgian Revenue Service to make digital currencies a payment option for taxes.
Following a successful pilot project in December 2024, where residents could pay their taxes using major digital assets including USDT, Bitcoin and Ethereum through the Keepz platform, Georgia becomes one of the first countries in the world to provide an official crypto payment channel for public services.
Keepz was the first fintech in Georgia to acquire an open banking licence and integrate cryptocurrency payments into tax collection. By integrating blockchain-based payments into public finance using Keepz, taxpayers can now make payments via QR codes, without the need for app downloads or registrations, ensuring a frictionless user experience.
“As a result of the cooperation between the Revenue Service and the private sector, it is now possible to pay for various essential customs services of the State Revenue Service using open banking,” explained Zaza Tabagari, head of the analytical department at the Georgian Revenue Service. “This offering creates a unified market for competition, positioning both the service and the country as an innovative digital channel for businesses and taxpayers alike.”
With Georgia setting the stage for crypto-integrated tax payments, Keepz’s role as the facilitator highlights its commitment to making transactions more accessible, secure, and efficient for businesses and consumers worldwide.
Embracing digital payments
Beyond tax payments, Keepz is also looking to empower tens of thousands of merchants and hundreds of thousands of payers by enabling secure, borderless transactions using digital assets. Businesses leveraging Keepz’s payment solutions also benefit from instant settlements and access to a global customer base increasingly embracing decentralised finance.
“At Keepz, we are redefining the future of digital payments by building the most accessible and innovative payment infrastructure,” Papuna Lezhava, CEO and co-founder of Keepz, also added. “With no need for downloads or registrations, we are breaking down barriers and democratising digital payments for everyone — merchants and payers alike.
“We believe financial freedom starts with choice, and we empower people to pay and get paid on their own terms. With our growing network of payers and merchants, and our expansion into Italy and Turkey—we are changing the digital payment realm.”
