Digital bank and flexible payments provider Klarna has partnered with Qatar Airways., one of the world’s leading carriers, to offer flexible payment options at checkout across 17 European markets. Facilitated by a strategic integration with Worldpay, the agreement allows travellers booking flights to choose from a range of flexible options: Pay in Full, Pay in 30 Days, Pay in 3 (interest-free instalments), or Financing their trip over time.
The single integration will roll out across major European markets, including the UK, Germany, France, Netherlands, Spain, and Italy, reaching millions of travellers at the point of booking. The move further solidifies the travel sector as one of Klarna’s fastest-growing verticals, alongside existing partnerships with platforms like Expedia, Airbnb, and Booking.com.
Unlocking control for travellers
The partnership directly responds to the accelerating global demand for greater flexibility and control when purchasing high-value items like air travel. For Qatar Airways, which connects over 170 destinations globally, the integration is a strategic move to pair its premium experience with added convenience at the point of sale.
“This partnership makes clear the growing global demand for greater flexibility and control when booking travel,” said David Sykes, chief commercial officer at Klarna. Sykes noted that with a single integration, Qatar Airways is now bringing Klarna to millions of travellers across 17 countries, “providing a smoother, smarter booking experience that fits the way people prefer to pay today.”
Christophe Guittard, SVP of digital commercial at Qatar Airways, commented that the partnership reflects the airline’s commitment to customer empowerment and experience excellence. “By partnering with Klarna, we’re making the Qatar Airways booking journey more convenient, giving our customers greater confidence and at the point of payment,” he added.
Worldpay facilitates global rollout
The agreement leverages the expanded strategic partnership between Klarna and Worldpay, an industry-leading payments technology company, which recently made Klarna a default payment option for Worldpay’s global merchant network.
Pete Wickes, general manager, EMEA global enterprise at Worldpay, highlighted the enablement aspect of the collaboration: “By integrating Klarna’s flexible payment options, Qatar Airways is empowering travellers to book and pay for their journeys in the way that suits them. Working in partnership with Klarna, Worldpay is enabling ambitious merchants like Qatar Airways to unlock new levels of convenience and flexibility for travellers across the globe.”
This new offering ensures that Qatar Airways customers can better manage their trip expenses, making it easier to plan and pay for journeys on their own terms.
