LINE, Japan’s biggest social media network and super app, is partnering up with Soneium, the infrastructure network powered by Sony Block Solutions Labs, to introduce four mini-apps onchain.
Through this collaboration, four new LINE mini-apps, which are web applications that run on LINE and enable users to enjoy certain services without having to install a separate native app, are coming to Soneium.
Soneium says this collaboration opens up new opportunities for web3 adoption in regions where LINE has established itself as a dominant digital platform, such as Japan, Indonesia, Taiwan and Thailand.
Approximately 200 million users already engage with LINE. By integrating its mini-apps into the Soneium ecosystem, it aims to enhance user experience, bringing smoother, more scalable, and accessible blockchain interactions.
Mini-app builders will also benefit from the move, as Soneium plans to create an ecosystem that enables developers to focus on innovation by supporting growth initiatives – combining community building, strategic marketing, and IP collaboration.
“LINE has built a strong presence, and integrating successful mini-apps into the Soneium ecosystem is a next step toward making Soneium more accessible,” said Jun Watanabe, chairman of Sony Block Solutions Labs. “We believe this collaboration will drive engagement and adoption in ways that were previously difficult to achieve.”
The mini-app games currently being integrated into the Soneium ecosystem are:
- Sleepagotchi LITE
- Farm Frens
- Moonveil – Puffy Match
- Pocket Mob
By bringing these four mini-apps onchain, the goal is clear: simplify access to web3 while maintaining the seamless experience users expect from traditional digital platforms.
