The global payments scene is rapidly changing. As a result of needing to implement diverse payment methods, fraud prevention tools and authentication protocols, merchants are finding themselves facing high costs and at risk of not complying with the latest regulations. To empower merchants and brands with complete control and transparency, all while tackling these challenges, payment infrastructure provider, Juspay has launched a new open-source modular payments platform – Hyperswitch.

With an Apache 2.0 license and PCI certification, Hyperswitch offers payment architects and product managers a fully customisable payments stack, free from the constraints of proprietary systems. It can be seamlessly integrated into a variety of worldwide payment solutions and enables merchants to eely integrate their preferred providers for payment processing, acquiring, fraud management, tokenisation, vaulting, 3DS authentication, and more.

Juspay is creating a solution which is truly interoperable with the global payments ecosystem that puts businesses in control of their payments strategy.  As part of this launch, Juspay has established a strategic hub in San Mateo, California. This will accelerate the adoption of Hyperswitch in the US and Canadian markets.

The move builds on Juspay’s continued global expansion efforts, following the opening of its Dublin office in December 2024 to better serve customers in the UK and Europe. These new offices will strengthen Juspay’s global network of 1200+ payment experts operating out of India, Singapore, Dubai and Sao Paulo.

Sheetal Lalwani, COO and co-founder of Juspay, commented: “At Juspay, we envision a future where payment systems are open and accessible. With Hyperswitch, our open-source payments operating system, we are delivering enterprise-grade performance – high reliability and scalability at low cost – to the global payments ecosystem.”

    Understanding Hyperswitch

Engineered as the ‘Linux for Payments,’ Hyperswitch’s open-source nature ensures full visibility, faster integrations, and seamless due diligence. Its modular architecture empowers merchants to build and augment their existing payment infrastructure either as individual components, or as a full-stack orchestration system.

This includes advanced functionalities like intelligent routing, customisable checkout, secure token vault, robust authentication, alternate payment methods (APMs), cost observability, payouts, reconciliation, unified analytics, and much more. Merchants can self-deploy and test the solution with just a few clicks. With over 14,000 GitHub stars, Hyperswitch is rapidly gaining traction worldwide, redefining the future of payments.

Backed by major investors like SoftBank, Accel, and VEF, Juspay serves over 500 firms including:

Currently, Juspay processes over 200 million transactions daily with over 99.999 per cent reliability, handling $670billion in annual total processed volume.
