Over 100 senior leaders from regulators, banks, and technology companies gathered in Jakarta on 7 August for the Banking Summit Indonesia 2025.
Co-hosted by Sunline and the Indonesian Banking Development Institute (LPPI), the event addressed the modernisation of core banking systems amid rising digital demands and evolving regulatory expectations.
Held under the theme “Modernising Core Banking: Embracing AI-Powered Transformation,” the summit highlighted the growing recognition that core system upgrades are not just technical matters but part of a broader strategic agenda.
With support from Huawei, Huawei Cloud, PwC, and Digital Mahadata, the discussions focused on how artificial intelligence, data infrastructure, and operational agility can help banks build more secure and resilient systems in line with national priorities.
Teguh Supangkat, Deputy Commissioner for Supervision of Financial Conglomerates at the Financial Services Authority (OJK), delivered the keynote address.
His remarks reinforced the regulator’s backing for digital transformation and emphasised the importance of resilient infrastructure, secure systems, and policy-aligned innovation in building an inclusive financial system.
A panel moderated by Wisnu Nugroho, Editor-in-Chief of CIO Insight, brought together Jacqueline Niu, Chief Solutions and Marketing Officer of Sunline, Heri Atoko, SVP of Retail Digital Delivery of BNI, Eddy Suryanto, APAC FSI Solution Consultant of Huawei, and Jonathan Sharp, Strategy & Partner Financial Services Operations of PwC.
The session explored operational friction, infrastructure agility, and regulatory alignment, underscoring the need for collaboration across the banking ecosystem.
Afternoon sessions covered implementation methodology, data infrastructure modernisation, and the use of AI in real-time fraud detection.
The event created space for dialogue between regulators and technology leaders, laying the groundwork for continued cooperation across sectors.
Sunline, which has operated in Indonesia since 2017, said the summit reflects its ongoing efforts to support banks with secure and locally relevant transformation strategies that align with regional regulatory priorities.
“Indonesia is entering a decisive chapter in core banking transformation — and we’re proud to contribute to that momentum.
Since 2017, Sunline has been working closely with Indonesian banks to localise innovation and deliver future-ready solutions. This summit is part of that long-term commitment.”
said Ruby Zhou, Deputy CEO of Sunline International.
