Stockholm-based Vilja, is expanding into Vietnam after establishing its ASEAN headquarters and development centre in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Vilja is one of 15 globally recognised cloud-native core banking platforms listed by Celent, Gartner Magic Quadrant, and IDC.

On 10 March, Vilja hosted the first “Swedish-Vietnamese Digital Banking Reception” in Hanoi in collaboration with the Swedish Ambassador to Vietnam, Johan Ndisi, at the Ambassador’s Residence.

The event brought together around 30 Vietnamese fintech professionals, partners, and banks.

Vilja formalised several local and regional partnerships with firms including FPT IS, Gimasys, FiinGroup, Nam Viet Corp, and international open-banking platform Brankas. The agreements were witnessed by the Swedish Ambassador, who stated:

“As we welcome Vilja Solutions to Vietnam, this milestone highlights the deepening ties between Sweden and Vietnam – built on over 50 years of partnership. With fintech and digital banking reshaping Vietnam’s economy, Vilja Solutions’ arrival marks an important step in strengthening Sweden’s presence in this space.”

Fredrik Ulvenholm, CEO of Vilja, said:

“We are committed to a long-term partnership with our Swedish and Vietnamese partners and government agencies in our joint mission to modernise and future-proof Vietnam’s banking industry with secure, compliant, and configurable cloud adoption. The future of banking depends on collaboration – it is key for banks to unlock opportunities in open banking, embedded finance, AI agents, and more.”

Vilja and its local partners will announce further initiatives in Vietnam focusing on secure cloud adoption, compliance with open API regulations, and multi-core banking capabilities.

Vilja will participate in the World Financial Innovation Series (WFIS) in Hanoi on 15–16 April. The event will provide direct engagement with Vietnam’s leading banks and financial institutions.
