Leading Australian crypto exchange Swyftx announced the acquisition of Easy Crypto, New Zealand’s largest local crypto trading platform. With this partnership, the company gets access to 1.1 million customers across the region.
On 19 March 2025, the company’s press release said that Swyftx and Easy Crypto will continue to operate as separate platforms until their service offerings can be offered to all customers.
Commenting on Swyftx’s power move, Jason Titman, Swyftx CEO said, “We have wanted to expand our presence in New Zealand for some time. Australasia needs a large, homegrown exchange to compete with international offerings and this deal creates exactly that.”

Easy Crypto is the largest crypto exchange in New Zealand, with over 350,000 users and more than NZD $3.5bn in sales since its launch in 2018.
Meanwhile, Janine Grainger, CEO and co-founder of Easy Crypto said, “We look forward to joining forces with Swyftx to accelerate that vision. Together, we can give our customers access to even more products and innovation to support them in their journeys.”

50% New Zealanders Hold Digital Assets, 22% Australian Voters Invested In Cryptocurrency
“Up to 50% of New Zealanders are expected to hold digital assets according to latest research,” Titman stated. “We have wanted to expand our presence in New Zealand for some time.
“Australasia needs a secure, world-class homegrown exchange to compete with international offerings and this deal creates exactly that,” he added.
Meanwhile, Grainger said, “I’ve been impressed with Swyftx’s growth and approach in the ANZ markets and our shared vision and values relating to customer experience, security and financial freedom made this partnership a natural fit.”
Interestingly, a recent survey Swyftx found that approximately 22% of Australian voters have invested in cryptocurrency. This translates to around four million adults. Of these, 59% indicated they are more likely to support candidates who advocate for pro-cryptocurrency policies. This potential pro-crypto voting bloc of two million Australians is a demographic large enough to influence key electoral battlegrounds.
“For the first time in our political history, we’re about to enter a federal election with a crypto-voting bloc that’s big enough and motivated enough to swing the result,” said Titman.
