Maximilian Crown is stepping in as CEO of the TON Foundation, just as the wider crypto space pumps like mad. The former MoonPay co-founder brings experience in both crypto payments and compliance—skills that may prove crucial as TON looks to level up from fast-growing project to global contender.

, Maximilian Crown helped turn MoonPay into one of the biggest names in crypto payments. As CFO and COO, he scaled the company fast—cutting deals with banks, building out infrastructure, and navigating the regulatory maze that swallows most startups whole.

“Crown brings a wealth of experience as a seasoned entrepreneur and one of the co-founders of MoonPay,” the foundation said in a statement.

Crown’s leadership arrives just as the TON Foundation undergoes a major reshuffling of its executive team, with former CEO Manuel Stotz transitioning to the role of president.

    The Drive for User Expansion

TON’s roadmap under Crown is pinned to one big advantage: Telegram. The foundation wants to onboard nearly a third of the app’s user base by 2028. The numbers are feasible as TON grew its active user count from 4 million to 41 million in 2023.

Toncoin may have lost 46% of its value, but the blockchain itself is gaining traction. Venture capital hasn’t flinched. Sequoia, Benchmark, and others have poured $400 million into the ecosystem this year, betting that user growth will beat market volatility.

Telegram gives TON a head start most blockchains can only dream of. With one tap, the foundation can reach hundreds of millions—and they’re betting that can turn a messaging app into a marketplace, gaming hub, and payment rail rolled into one.  Games like Notcoin and Hamster Kombat have shown flashes of what’s possible, but long-term engagement is still an open question.

Now, the focus shifts to infrastructure and onboarding—two fronts Crown plans to scale hard.

With 2025 shaping up to be a defining year for cryptocurrency, all eyes will be on TON as it pursues its vision of creating a blockchain ecosystem fit for the modern age. Whether it’s through onboarding millions of Telegram users or launching new services, TON intends to solidify its position as a blockchain powerhouse.
